When you sign in to a reader or staff account, BRIEFSLIDE sets an authentication/session cookie so the website recognizes you as signed in. This cookie is set by our authentication system and is required for account features to work; it is marked as secure in production.
Preferences
BRIEFSLIDE uses your browser's local storage (not a cookie) to remember two preferences on your device: your light/dark theme selection, and, if you use the Local News feature, your last-selected city or region. Neither is sent to our servers as a cookie, and both stay on your own device until you clear your browser data.
Managing Cookies
You can manage or delete cookies through your browser settings. Disabling the essential authentication cookie will prevent you from staying signed in to an account, though you can still read published stories without one.
BRIEFSLIDE does not currently use analytics or advertising cookies.
