BRIEFSLIDE respects your privacy and is committed to explaining how information may be collected and used when you use our website.
Information We May Collect
Information you voluntarily provide: if you create a reader account, we collect the name, email address, and password you provide, or, if you choose to sign in through a third-party provider such as Google, Facebook, or Apple where enabled, the account information that provider shares with us.
Information generated through normal use: if you use the Local News feature, the city, region, or country you search for or share (including, if you choose to share it, your device's location) is used to show relevant local coverage. This information is stored only in your own browser, not in our database.

How We Use Information
We use the information described above to:
- operate and maintain the website;
- provide requested services, such as signing in to a reader account or showing local news for a location you choose;
- authenticate accounts and keep them secure;
- prevent abuse of the website or its systems.
BRIEFSLIDE does not currently use analytics, advertising, or audience-measurement technology, and does not sell personal information.
Cookies and Similar Technologies
If you sign in, BRIEFSLIDE sets an authentication/session cookie so you can stay signed in between visits. BRIEFSLIDE also uses your browser’s local storage (not a cookie) to remember your light/dark theme preference and, if you use the Local News feature, your last-selected location. Third-Party Services
If you use the Local News feature, the city or coordinates you search for or share are sent to Open-Meteo and, for device-location lookups, BigDataCloud, two geocoding services, so we can resolve them to a place name. If you choose to sign in through a third-party account provider (such as Google, Facebook, or Apple, where enabled), that provider processes the information involved in that sign-in according to its own privacy policy.
Data Retention
Reader account information is retained for as long as the account exists. Session records are removed when a session expires or you sign out. We do not currently have a documented retention schedule beyond this and will update this page if that changes.
Data Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures intended to protect information from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights concerning the access, correction, deletion, objection to, or restriction of the handling of your personal information. This page describes our general practices and is not jurisdiction-specific legal advice.
Changes to This Policy
BRIEFSLIDE may update this Privacy Policy when its services or data practices change.
